141. Deputy Brendan Howlin asked the Minister for Finance the percentage share of voted and non-voted expenditure of GDP and GNI for each of the past five years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [36010/17]
Amharc ar fhreagraNon-voted expenditure, which is generally non-discretionary in nature, is paid out of the Central Fund under specific legislation. It consists of items such as the service of the National Debt, contributions to the European Union Budget, the Houses of the Oireachtas Commission, judicial salaries and pensions and the salaries and pensions of the President and Comptroller and Auditor General.
In addition to GDP and GNI, for completeness, the following table also contains the ratio for voted and non-voted expenditure as a percentage of modified gross national income (GNI*).
