1437. Deputy Pearse Doherty asked the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs further to Parliamentary Question No. 797 of 11 April 2017, the estimated cost of the measure assuming it will be introduced in September 2018; and the full year cost. [35710/17]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe actual cost of this proposal would be subject to a number of factors including actual levels of participation and the number of children subvented at the 'higher capitation' rate. Extrapolating from 2016/17 figures, the estimated cost of introducing this measure in September 2018, would be €20 million with increases of €3 million annually for every additional 1% of children paid at the higher capitation rate.
Based on 2016/17 figures, the estimated total cost of this over a full programme year would be €300 million
