Deputy Clare Daly asked the Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government if he advised President Donald Trump to apply for a sea wall for a golf course under the strategic infrastructure Act, an application that was subsequently refused by An Bord Pleanála; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have not given any planning advice to President Trump, either generally or in relation to the development referred to by the Deputy.
Under section 30 of the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended, I am specifically precluded from exercising any power or control in relation to any particular case with which a planning authority or the Board is or may be concerned, except in very limited circumstances, which may or may not ultimately arise in this case.
