EU regulations governing the Basic Payment Scheme, the Areas of Natural Constraints Scheme and other area-based schemes require that full and comprehensive administrative checks, including Ground or Remote Sensing inspections where completed, are fully completed before any payments are issued. My Department is required to undertake inspections on at least 5% of applicants and cases can be selected for inspection under more than one scheme.
