Ceisteanna (1386)

Alan Farrell

Ceist:

1386. Deputy Alan Farrell asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the reason Fingal County Council has received significantly less funding than other greater Dublin area local authorities under the National Transport Authority sustainable measures grants in each of the years 2015 to 2017; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport. However, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of public transport, including the management of the Sustainable Transport Measures Grant (STMG) Programme.

My Department provides aggregate funding to the National Transport Authority (NTA) for the STMG Programme to provide grants to the seven local authorities in the Greater Dublin Area, including Fingal County Council, to support implementation of sustainable transport projects including cycling & walking infrastructure, Quality Bus Corridors, road safety, public transport accessibility and traffic management projects.

Noting the NTA's responsibility in this matter, I have referred your question to the NTA for a more detailed reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within 10 working days.

A referred reply was forwarded to the Deputy under Standing Order 42A.
