Amharc ar fhreagraThe Department’s Fuel Allowance Scheme was introduced in 1988. The scheme is intended to assist qualified households in receipt of certain social welfare payments with seasonal heating costs. It may be payable to persons who are dependent on certain long-term social welfare payments such as a pension, or means-tested payments such as One-Parent Family Payment or Jobseeker’s Allowance.
The person concerned is in receipt of Working Family Payment (formerly known as Family Income Supplement) which is not a qualifying payment for receipt of Fuel Allowance.
If the person concerned has a spouse, civil partner or cohabitant who is in receipt of a qualifying payment, they should contact the relevant office of the Department to establish whether they are entitled to Fuel Allowance.
