434. Deputy John Curran asked the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection the stage reached by the provision set out in section 5 of the Social Welfare, Pensions and Civil Registration Bill 2017 that enables customers to volunteer their public services card in circumstances in which they wish to use it as a form of proof of identity and-or age; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Social Welfare, Pensions and Civil Registration Bill 2017, including the provision set out in section 5, has passed the Second Stage that was concluded on 4 October 2017. It is expected that the Bill will progress to Committee Stage in the coming months. I hope this clarifies the position for the Deputy.
