As Minister for Health, I have no direct role in regard to pay of private sector employees.
With regard to difficulties being reported by the private nursing home sector in relation to recruitment of health care assistants, officials from my Department have agreed to meet with Nursing Homes Ireland as the umbrella body for private and voluntary nursing homes in Ireland, along with the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation, to examine the matter further.
