321. Deputy Mattie McGrath asked the Minister for Justice and Equality the status of the operation of the Sexual Offences (Jurisdiction) Act 1996; the number of prosecutions and convictions that have arisen in each of the past six years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30747/18]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Deputy will appreciate that prosecutions are solely a matter for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and I have no role in this regard. However, in terms of the operation of the Sexual Offences (Jurisdiction) Act 1996, I have requested a report from the Garda authorities on this matter and I will contact the Deputy directly when the report is to hand.
