1127. The Central Statistics Office (CSO), as the national statistical agency, is responsible for the compilation and publication of the official recorded crime statistics. Any decision on the categorisation of crime statistics is entirely a matter for the CSO and I, as Minister, have no role in such matters.

However, the subject matter is of course of critical importance to me and accordingly, my officials remain in regular contact with the CSO about it.
