In 2017, the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform approved the introduction of a new grade of assistant psychologist on a two year pilot basis. These assistant psychologist positions are largely located among the primary care psychology services across the 9 Community Healthcare Organisations.
On completion of this pilot, my Department will review the scheme before making any final decisions in relation to the future of this grade.
