2295. Deputy Robert Troy asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport his views on whether there are a sufficient number of taxis operational here to meet increasing demand; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [35160/18]
Amharc ar fhreagraAs the Deputy will be aware, the regulation of the small public service vehicle (SPSV) sector is a matter for the National Transport Authority (NTA) under the provisions of the Taxi Regulation Act 2013. I understand that the NTA has been taking some actions, including changes in their approach to Driver Entry Test to encourage growth and address the number of drivers available in the SPSV industry.
