2360. Deputy Anne Rabbitte asked the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs the amount her Department has spent on guardian ad litem services in 2017 and to date in 2018, in tabular form. [35405/18]
Amharc ar fhreagraUnder the Child Care Act, 1991, as amended, the Child and Family Agency has responsibility for payment of any costs incurred by a person who has been appointed by a court to act as a guardian ad litem in proceedings under the Act. The Child and Family Agency has advised that, pursuant to this responsibility, the total amount paid in 2017 to guardians ad litem was €13,861,368. The total amount paid up to the end of May 2018 is €5,788,937. The following table provides a breakdown of the expenditure for 2017 and 2018.
