I propose to take Questions Nos. 466 and 467 together.

The Deputy will appreciate that, as Accounting Officer, the Garda Commissioner is primarily responsible for the effective and efficient use of the resources available to An Garda Síochána. As Minister, I have no direct role in the matter.

I have asked the Garda Commissioner for the specific information requested and when I receive it, I will write directly to the Deputy.

The following deferred reply was received under Standing Order 42A
I refer to Parliamentary Question No. 466 and 467 for answer on 7 September 2018 in which the Deputy requested the cost of the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau in each of the years 2007-2017 by categories and in tabular form.
The Deputy will recall that the information he requested could not be obtained in the time available, and I undertook to contact him again when the information was to hand. I apologise for the delay in responding.
I am informed by the Garda authorities that the following table outlines certain costs of the Garda National Economic Bureau for the years 2007-2017.
I am informed that the figures do not represent the totality of the cost associated with the Bureau, but rather represent costs associated with the specific headings requested in the Parliamentary Question listed above.
I wish to emphasise that I am informed by the Garda authorities the figures provided are the actual payments made in each of the years in question that are coded to the Economic Crime Bureau cost centre. As the figures provided refer to actual cost they may differ from the revised estimates.
I trust this information is of assistance.
