312. Deputy Eamon Ryan asked the Minister for Justice and Equality if he will request the Garda Commissioner to bring forward a new Garda diversity strategy and implementation plan, in view of the fact that the previous one expired in 2012; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [37651/18]
Amharc ar fhreagraAs the Deputy will be aware, the production of a Garda Diversity and Inclusion Strategy is one of the actions contained within An Garda Síochána’s 2018 Policing Plan. I am informed that work is currently underway in An Garda Síochána on the drafting of the ‘Garda Workplace Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy 2018-2022, which aims to place a strong emphasis on creating a working environment in An Garda Síochána that is open, inclusive and non-discriminatory.
I have requested further information in relation to the Strategy from the Garda Commissioner and I will write to the Deputy on receipt of same.
