118. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice and Equality the number of prison places available to the justice system here; the number of persons incarcerated; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [42718/18]
Amharc ar fhreagraAs the Deputy is aware the Irish Prison Service collates and publishes the prisoner population breakdown on a daily basis and this information is available on the Irish Prison Service website www.irishprisons.ie. This breakdown includes the number of prisoners incarcerated in each prison, as well as the capacity per prison. The information can be found in the Information Centre – under Statistics & Information – Daily Prisoner Population.
