175. Deputy Peadar Tóibín asked the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence the categories of funding available to local authorities through his Department; the amount of funding provided for each scheme in 2016 and 2017; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [43727/18]
Amharc ar fhreagraMy Department provides funding to local authorities to assist them in the provision of Civil Defence services. This funding is intended to meet a proportion (70%) of the annual operating costs of Civil Defence in the local authorities – plus grants for equipment, training exercises and other miscellaneous related costs.
The amount provided in 2016 was €3.81m and in 2017 was €3.48m.
