Ceisteanna (493)

Michael Lowry

Ceist:

493. Deputy Michael Lowry asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the Limerick to Waterford primary route, the N24, was identified by Transport Infrastructure Ireland as a priority project for upgrading works (details supplied); when a decision will issue from TII on the project appraisal plans for both sections of the N24 in view of the importance of the road as a corridor link from Rosslare Europort to the west of Ireland; if the project will be accelerated; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport, I have responsibility for overall policy and funding in relation to the national roads programme. Under the Roads Acts 1993-2015, the planning, design and operation of individual national roads is a matter for Transport Infrastructure Ireland, TII, in conjunction with the local authorities concerned.

Noting the above position, I have referred the question to TII for a more detailed and direct reply on the current status of N24 projects. Please advise my private office if the Deputy does not receive a reply within ten working days.

A referred reply was forwarded to the Deputy under Standing Order 42A.
