183. Deputy James Browne asked the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment the status of the eel fishermen compensation scheme for affected fishermen; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9934/19]
Amharc ar fhreagraI refer to the reply to Question No. 574 of 12 February 2019. I am advised by Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) that payments have issued to applicants who have communicated, in writing, formal acceptance of the offer and confirmation of an undertaking to adhere to the conditions of the scheme and their individual letter of offer. Payments will issue to other eligible applicants as soon as they make the required returns to IFI.
In addition, the closing date or appeals under the scheme was Friday last, 22 February, and all appeals received will be considered shortly.
