Deputy Sean Fleming asked the Minister for Justice and Equality the number of additional marked motorbikes allocated to the roads policing unit in 2018 and to date in 2019; the number that were removed from the roads policing unit during the same period; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraAs the Deputy will appreciate, the Garda Commissioner is primarily responsible for the effective and efficient use of the resources available to An Garda Síochána. Further, decisions in relation to the provision and allocation of Garda equipment and resources, including vehicles, are for the Commissioner in light of identified operational demands.
I have requested the relevant information from the Commissioner and I will write to the Deputy directly when I receive it.
