Ceisteanna (2474)

Robert Troy

Ceist:

2474. Deputy Robert Troy asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he will instruct Transport Infrastructure Ireland, TII, to review the way in which the pedestrian crossing works with a view to replacing with a push button in the villages of Rathowen and Ballinalack on the N4 in view of the very heavy traffic volumes and the fact that pedestrians cannot cross the road because some motorists refuse to stop. As Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport, I have responsibility for overall policy and funding in relation to the national roads programme.   Under the Roads Acts 1993-2015, the planning, design and construction and management and operation of individual national roads is a matter for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), in conjunction with the local authorities concerned.

Noting the above position, I have referred the question to TII for a direct reply.  Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within 10 working days.

A referred reply was forwarded to the Deputy under Standing Order 42A
