Deputy Seán Haughey asked the Minister for Justice and Equality the number of gardaí by rank attached to CPU, Coolock Garda station, Dublin 5 as of 1 January 2019 and 2 December 2019, in tabular form; if the number of gardaí attached to the unit has decreased over the past 18 to 24 months; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraIt is important to be clear that under the Garda Síochána Act 2005 as amended, the Garda Commissioner has responsibility for management of An Garda Síochána and for the allocation and efficient use of Garda resources. This includes responsibility for personnel matters and the distribution of personnel across the various Garda Divisions.
I have requested a report from the Commissioner in relation to the matter referred to by the Deputy and I will write to him directly when it is to hand.
