1099. Deputy Thomas Byrne asked the Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht if her attention has been drawn to bird kills involving the banned insecticide carbofuran; and the steps she plans to undertake to prevent bird kills involving insecticide products. [11191/20]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) of my Department is aware of an incident of poisoning involving the death of a number of buzzards in West Cork a number of months ago. Testing of the carcasses was carried out by the Regional Veterinary Laboratory in Cork which confirmed that the cause of death was the banned insecticide Carbofuran. I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Question Nos 1413, 1414, 1416, 1420, 1424 and 1428 of 20 May 2020 for further information on this incident.
Officials of the NPWS of my Department are continuing their investigation into this case.
