Deputy Peadar Tóibín asked the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications if his Department has undertaken any research or investigation into the alleged use of fake social media accounts or robots by political parties in Ireland; if so, the findings of such investigations and research; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department has not carried out any research or investigation into the alleged use of fake social media accounts or robots by political parties in Ireland. Regulation of the electoral system, is not a matter with respect to which I have a statutory role.
