Deputy Niamh Smyth asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if his Department has been in contact with the Beef Taskforce in relation to convening a meeting to discuss issues in the sector (details supplied); the status of the matter given the concerns of farmers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Beef Taskforce, which meets at least quarterly as per the terms of reference of the group, is scheduled to meet again next week.
In addition to updates on the ongoing work of the Taskforce, there is a standing agenda item for all Task Force meetings on the market situation which provides a platform for stakeholders to discuss the current issues in the market.
