97. Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for Justice her plans to publish the annual report of the Inspector of Prisons that was submitted to her Department on 16 March 2021; the reason for the delay in doing so; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [22479/21]
Amharc ar fhreagraSection 32 of the Prisons Act 2007 provides that the Inspector of Prisons shall submit a report to me as Minister, not later than 31 March in any year or such later date as may be specified by me, on the performance of the Inspector’s functions during the previous year. I can confirm that the Annual report from the Inspector of Prisons for 2020 was submitted to my Department on 16 March 2021 and that officials are currently reviewing the main issues arising, with a view to my publishing the report in the coming weeks.
