226. Deputy Holly Cairns asked the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications the steps he is taking to highlight the issues that wipes cause to wastewater systems; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26541/21]
Amharc ar fhreagraAs Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, I have no remit with respect to the issue raised by the Deputy. All matters relating to waste water are a matter for my colleague the Minister for Housing Local Government and Heritage. However, The Waste action plan for a circular economy, published in July 2020, has signalled the outright banning of non-medical wet wipes and the preparation of extended producer responsibility of certain other wet wipes.
