Ceisteanna (262)

Martin Browne

Ceist:

262. Deputy Martin Browne asked the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth if the Tusla adult retrospective team for the Carlow, Kilkenny and south Tipperary area have been redeployed to front-line child protection services; if this is resulting in referrals building up in the system; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Deputy is referring to an operational matter for Tusla, the Child and Family Agency. I have therefore referred the matter to Tusla, and asked that a direct response be provided to the Deputy.

As you may be aware, Tusla ICT systems have been severely impacted by the cyber-attack on Friday 14 May 2021. This has significant consequences in terms of how Tusla interact with services and service users. There is a great deal of work being undertaken to put alternative systems in place but at present electronic communications are impeded. Currently Tusla are dependent on telephone / post for all communications and are working hard to restore ICT systems.
