296. Deputy Colm Burke asked the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth if Irish citizens whose parents were also Irish citizens, that spent time in a mother and baby or county home institution in Northern Ireland (details supplied) for a significant period of time will be eligible for support under the mother and baby home payment scheme and action plan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Mother and Baby Institutions Payment Scheme will provide financial payments and an enhanced medical card to defined groups in acknowledgement of suffering experienced while resident in Mother and Baby and County Home Institutions in the Republic of Ireland. The institutions covered by the Scheme are the 14 Mother and Baby Homes investigated by the Commission of Investigation and all County Homes. Mother and baby homes or other institutions in Northern Ireland do not come under the scope of the Payment Scheme.
