An application for a foreshore license associated with dredging works at Magheraroarty Pier, Co. Donegal is currently being considered by my Department. While it would not be appropriate for me to to comment on an application under consideration until such time as it comes to me for decision, I can confirm that a consultation inviting opinions of the public and prescribed bodies on the Appropriate Assessment required in accordance with the Habitats Directive and associated regulations was held during November and December 2021. The responses are currently being collated and will be available on my Department's website shortly. I expect the final assessment of the application to be completed in the coming weeks. My Department are in contact with the applicant and are aware of the urgency of the application.
