886. Deputy Alan Kelly asked the Minister for Rural and Community Development the status of each individual project approved under the town and village renewal scheme in County Tipperary in each of the years of 2020 and 2021 including the grant approved for each project; and the completion date for each project. Amharc ar fhreagraThe Town and Village Renewal Scheme (TVRS) is part of a range of measures to support the revitalisation of rural Ireland. The programme is funded under Project Ireland 2040 as part of Our Rural Future.
In February 2022 I announced almost €18.5 million in funding for projects under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme 2021. I announced further funding of €850,000 in March for projects under the new Project Development Measure 2021.
Since the launch of the Scheme in 2016, over €113 million of funding has been approved for more than 1,400 projects across Ireland. I will shortly announce details of the 2022 Town & Village Renewal Scheme.
The following table outlines the details and status of each individual project approved under the Scheme in County Tipperary in each of the years of 2020 and 2021:

Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett asked the Minister for Rural and Community Development if she will provide details of contracts awarded in 2022 by her Department or bodies under her aegis outside the standard procurement process in order to assist the arrival of refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraMy Department has not awarded any contracts in 2022 outside of the standard procurement process in order to assist the arrival of refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine.
There are four agencies under my Department’s remit: the Western Development Commission; POBAL; Irish Water Safety; and the Charities Regulator. In respect of these bodies, information relating to this matter is for the bodies concerned. They are independent legal entities responsible for managing their own corporate affairs and staff matters in compliance with statutory obligations and the Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies.

Deputy Peadar Tóibín asked the Minister for Rural and Community Development if her Department employ persons or firms to deal with public relations; if so, the number of persons employed by her Department to deal with public relations; the names of firms involved; and the total amount spent on public relations by her Department. Amharc ar fhreagraMy Department does not employ external persons or firms to deal with public relations. My Department’s communications team deals with a wide range of internal and external communications matters, including press engagement, media events, online content and public relations.
892. Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for Rural and Community Development if she intends reducing the islander fares on public service obligation transport to and from the islands by 20% in line with the reduction in bus and rail fares; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraAs the Deputy is aware, the subsidised transport services to the off-shore islands do not fall under the remit of the fare reduction scheme currently being introduced by the National Transport Authority on behalf of the Department of Transport.
While I am open to considering the introduction of a similar scheme for island residents, there are some concerns that applying a fare reduction for islanders on subsidised services could create issues for private operators operating the same routes as the subsidised operators.
I have written to the Attorney General seeking his advice on the issues arising and I expect to receive advices on the matter shortly.
