Deputy Catherine Murphy asked the Minister for Justice if she consulted the Attorney General in respect of the general scheme of communications (retention of data) (Amendment) Bill 2022; if she engaged any private legal company on same; and if so, if she will provide cost and details of same. I can confirm that my Department, in line with normal practice, consulted with the Office of the Attorney General in respect of the General Scheme of the Communications (Retention of Data) Bill 2022. The Department has not engaged any private legal company on same.
