Deputy Ged Nash asked the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science the number of trainee dental places that have been on offer in the State each year since 2016; the number of those places that are being offered through CAO and to non-European Union students respectively in tabular form; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraThe table below outlines the number of new entrants to undergraduate dentistry courses, by domicile from 2016/2017 to 2020/2021 academic years. All students from the EU or UK apply through the CAO. The number of places offered is a matter for the dental schools, and my Department does not set limits on the number of enrolments in dentistry.
