472. Deputy Cormac Devlin asked the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform the estimated cost of bringing Houses of the Oireachtas staff employed under the scheme for secretarial assistance under the terms of Building for Momentum, including the recent pay deal, by grade, in tabular form; if he will consider offering these staff a similar package while historical negotiations continue given the impact of inflation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Houses of the Oireachtas Commission Services has provided the estimates below in respect of the information sought by the Deputy. It should be noted that the WRC proposal for the revised terms of Building Momentum is currently with the unions for consideration and has not yet been ratified.

The Deputy will be aware that a pay claim lodged by SIPTU in respect of staff employed by Members and Political Parties under the Scheme for Secretarial Assistance is currently part of an ongoing process at the WRC.  Accordingly it would be inappropriate for me to comment any further at this stage.
