Deputy Catherine Connolly asked the Minister for Defence if he will provide a detailed breakdown of the equipment and gear being carried by the Air Corps PC-12 (details supplied) which is currently stranded in Uganda after being used to collect equipment and gear left behind by Defence Forces members who evacuated from the Democratic Republic of the Congo in mid-August 2022. Amharc ar fhreagraThe Air Corps completed recently a military operation to repatriate military equipment associated with the recent departure of Defence Forces' personnel from the UN's MONUSCO mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. For operational and security reasons, it is not appropriate to provide further details of this military equipment.
The repatriation of the equipment required the processing of diplomatic clearances to travel through the airspace and territory of 14 countries. At no point was the Air Corps aircraft ever stranded in Uganda.
