Ceisteanna (83)

Fergus O'Dowd

Ceist:

83. Deputy Fergus O'Dowd asked the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications if he will outline the plans to increase the number of staff within the integrated pollution control licensing section of the Environmental Protection Agency given the Government's strategy to decarbonise industry and meet climate targets and in view the current delays which are leading to an approximate timeline of two years at present; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Environmental Protection Agency is the competent authority for granting and enforcing industrial and waste licences and is independent in the exercise of its licensing functions. Accordingly, the Agency is responsible for allocating the appropriate staffing resources and finances to ensure that it can fulfil its licensing obligations.
