Deputy Mark Ward asked the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media the number of volunteers and coaches in the 60 governing bodies of sports who have completed coaching certificates; the type and level of certificate, by sporting body, in tabular form; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraSport Ireland, which is funded by my Department, is the statutory body with responsibility for the development of sport, increasing participation at all levels and raising standards. It also has responsibility for the development of coaches and tutors at all levels in sport.
As the specific issue raised is a matter for Sport Ireland, I have referred the Deputy's question to Sport Ireland for direct reply. I would ask the Deputy to inform my office if a reply is not received within 10 days.
