186. Deputy Mark Ward asked the Minister for Education the number of primary schools in the State; the number of physical education teachers employed in each school, by school, in tabular form; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [47722/22]
Amharc ar fhreagraThere were 3,104 mainstream primary schools in the 2021/2022 academic year. In total, 40,351 full-time equivalent posts were allocated to these schools in the same year. Teachers at primary level provide the primary curriculum which is comprised of a number of subjects, only one of which is physical education. It is therefore not possible to count the number of physical education teachers by primary school.
