585. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science the progress to date in the determination of an appeal for a higher education grant in the case of a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraThe student referred to by the Deputy submitted an appeal to the SUSI appeals officer on the 28th September 2022. The appeal was upheld. However, in the appeal the student stated that he changed from a Post Leaving Certificate Course to an Undergraduate course. As the total household reckonable income was calculated to be over the income threshold for PLC but under the maximum threshold for funding at undergraduate level his application was finalised, and he was awarded 100% rate of Student Contribution/50% Tuition Fees (whichever applies). An Award letter advising him of this was sent on 7 October 2022.
