Deputy Bríd Smith asked the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media if her Department has met with representatives of artists affected by proposed development plans for Merrion Square which will severely impact their ability to display and show their works on the square. Amharc ar fhreagraUrban planning and development policy is primarily a matter for local authorities and the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. County and city development plans are drawn up by local authorities in accordance with their functions under the Planning and Development Acts. As Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, I have no function or authority in this matter. In this context representatives of this group might engage with Dublin City Council in relation to the development works in Merrion Square.
