483. Deputy Thomas Pringle asked the Minister for Justice if prison officers who were on duty in Portlaoise Prison during the Troubles and were in receipt of the environmental allowance, known by prison officers as "danger money”, are classified under the Good Friday Agreement as people affected by the Troubles. The Deputy will appreciate that it would not be appropriate for me to interpret the provisions of the Good Friday Agreement, which I understand does not provide any classification of persons as described by the Deputy in his question.
