Ceist:

119. Deputy Claire Kerrane asked the Minister for Social Protection if she will advise on the reviews carried out by her Department with regard to disability allowance recipients; if she will provide figures from review decisions, in tabular form; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Disability allowance (DA) is a weekly allowance paid to people with a specified disability who are aged 16 or over and under the age of 66.  This disability must be expected to last for at least one year and the allowance is subject to a medical assessment, means test and habitual residency conditions.

During 2022, my Department completed 7,602 reviews of DA claims.   This resulted in the termination of 810 claims; a reduced rate of payment in 751 cases; and 150 cases of an overpayment.

I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
