Deputy Carol Nolan asked the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media if her Department supports the use of gender-neutral pronouns in the drafting of legislation or policies initiated by or originating in her Department; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraMy Department remains committed to meeting its public sector duty obligations under Section 42 of the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission Act 2014.
As the Deputy will be aware the drafting of legislation is undertaken with the support and advice of the Office of Parliamentary Counsel and followed accordingly by my Department.
