Ceisteanna (696)

Michael Creed

Ceist:

696. Deputy Michael Creed asked the Minister for Health the rationale for excluding Mallow General Hospital from benefit under the appointment of community care consultant posts; the rationale for this decision given the extensive catchment area that Mallow General Hospital serves; if he is satisfied that this decision is compatible with the Sláintecare objectives of delivering the “right care, in the right place, at the right time, by the right team”; if he will review this decision with the HSE given the imminent opening of a new 50-bed unit in Mallow hospital and the likelihood that such a decision will only exacerbate the number of admissions on trolleys at Cork University Hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As this is a service matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond to the deputy directly, as soon as possible.
