Deputy John McGuinness asked the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications if he will provide an update on the progress in the conservation of salmon stocks in the rivers in the south east; how the funds raised through the salmon licence payment are used; the amount collected in each of the past five years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraOperations for conservation of salmon stocks in the rivers of the South-Eastern Region and disbursement of funds raised via committing 50% of the duty on both angling and commercial salmon fishing licenses for conservation and restoration projects, are operational matters for Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) in which neither I nor my Department have any function.
