568. Deputy Peter Burke asked the Minister for Education if she will consider the inclusion of a Westmeath school (details supplied) in the counselling and mental health pilot scheme which she announced recently; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [27901/23]
Amharc ar fhreagraI announced a programme of counselling and mental health supports in a series of primary schools from September 2023. This is pilot and therefore it is not possible to include all schools. I have ensured that there is a cross section of schools across the provinces included in this pilot.
The counties were selected following an analysis of counsellor availability locally who are qualified and experienced to work with children and young people. I am confident that we will take valuable learnings from this pilot.
