Deputy Ivana Bacik asked the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage if his Department is on target to complete action 2.10 of Housing for All to examine a system of holding rental deposits by the end of Q2 2023; and if he will make a statement on the anticipated process following its completion.; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraWork is underway in my Department to complete Action 2.10 of Housing for All,which requires an examination for the creation of a system of holding rental deposits, informed by best international experience.
The measure will be reported on in the context of the next Housing for All quarterly progress report. It should be noted that my Department is also carrying out a broader review of the private rented sector in Ireland which will inform longer term policy in relation to the sector.
