160. Deputy Brendan Howlin asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Defence when the lance corporal rank will be introduced in the Army and Air Corps; the projected cost of same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [36263/23]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Report of the Commission on the Defence Forces recommended the creation of a new enlisted rank of Lance Corporal in the Army and the Air Corps. In its adoption of the Report, Government agreed that this recommendation is subject to further evaluation. The next steps in this regard will be set out in the Detailed Implementation Plan for the Report of the Commission on the Defence Forces, which will shortly be finalised by my Department and Military Management.
