Deputy Jackie Cahill asked the Minister for Justice the number of serving or past members of An Garda Síochána who applied for positions within the Prison Service between 1 January 2020 and 31 January 2024 and were given job offers following these applications; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraI am advised by the Irish Prison Service that statistics are not compiled or maintained in the manner requested by the Deputy. To provide this information would require a manual examination of a considerable amount of records, such an examination would require a disproportionate and inordinate amount of staff time and resources which I regret could not be justified.
