Ceisteanna (163)

Paul Murphy

Ceist:

163. Deputy Paul Murphy asked the Minister for Transport further to Parliamentary Question No. 169 of 20 February 2024, given that no one bar essential workers could sit a driving test or avail of lessons in 2020 and 2021, if he will take this into consideration and advocate for the RSA to make temporary changes to third learner permits to last for two years rather than one (details supplied). While I am aware of the restrictions in place in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid pandemic, I do not intend to make changes to the regulations in place for obtaining a third or further learner permit. If a person has sat and failed a driving test, the third or further permit will be granted for 2 years. If not, the permit will be granted for 1 year.
